Struggling mom rant: You know what ticks me off? The vast majority of creditors do not report good behavior to credit bureaus. And those creditors are the ones most people who are economizing would use: utility providers, insurance providers, rental companies. Totally uncool. If they're going to report you for negatives, why not occasionally commend good behavior? I've paid the car insurance every month on time for 22 years. Does that ever end up on a credit report? No. Just because I see no need for a Target card, and don't borrow money, my credit is bad. It's a rotten system I'm only recently deciding to learn how to live within, mostly because it would be nice to buy a few items here or there without cash up front.
